Chametz : The Search is On logo

This is the mystery game you’ve been searching for!  2-6 players use process of elimination to figure out which item of non-Passover food was left in which room of the house!  Finally, a game that’s great for kids and adults. No writing or batteries needed, so it’s great for shabbos and holidays.

Chametz game box - Jewish Game

The premise: It’s two weeks before Passover and Colonel Moti invites Rabbi Greenberg to his home to give a lecture about the laws and history of Passover. The colonel serves snacks which are kosher, of course, but not kosher for Passover. Uh-oh! Someone leaves an item of chametz somewhere in the house and the group begins searching.

Who is able to find it? What type of chametz is it? In which room of the house? Fortunately, the gameboard is the blueprint of Colonel Moti’s home.

Players may begin in any room they wish (but they must select the room before looking at the cards they are dealt). By searching the house, answering multiple choice questions that pertain to Passover and general Jewish history, accumulating clues, and paying close attention, the players help the colonel clean his house in time for Passover! Recommended for 2 to 6 players aged 7 to adult. Game includes 6 pawns, 6 note boards (does NOT require pen or pencil), 18 custom playing cards, 234 questions on 78 question cards, one die, one gameboard, one chametz envelope, and instructions. A typical game start-to-finish takes approx. 30-40 minutes.

Laughing Out Loud

REVIEW BY: Ann Koffsky Author/Illustrator

As I unpacked the pieces, I laughed out loud at the cleverness. Professor Plum has become Professor Slivovitz, and Colonel Mustard is now Colonel Moti. Too funny. So considerate of Sabbath observant players! All the packaging is resealable, so there is no initial ripping, and there are tokens that replace the pad and pencil that Clue used. (no muktzah at all).

Excellent!

I bought chametz two years ago and played it with the grandkids for pesach then. They were a little too young to understand how to play, but their parents enjoyed it. This year they are 11, 9, & 7 and they were able to play by themselves & enjoyed it!

Love, love, love!

Philadelphia Jewish Voice

I play tested the game with my children ages 4 to 19, and they kept asking to play more. This game would make a great gift or afikomen ransom.

Kids Playing Chametz the Game

“Chametz” is an adorable game by Hazakah, Inc., which is set up and played similar to the murder mystery game, Clue. The object of the game is to figure out Who found the chametz, Where they found it, and What kind of chametz it is.

And even better—it can be used on Yom Tov! The game is set up to keep track of everything in a way that is not mechalel Shabbos (unlike Clue).
